Street in Madrid

La Latina Tapas Bars

La Latina is the neighborhood south of Plaza Mayor where Madrilenos go for Sunday tapas after the El Rastro market. Free to walk. The Cava Baja and Cava Alta streets have the densest concentration of tapas bars in the city. Many bars serve a free tapa with every drink. Budget travelers eat and drink their way down Cava Baja on a Sunday afternoon and get the authentic Madrid tapas experience at prices that make the tourist restaurants near the Plaza Mayor look like a mistake.
