The state-owned brandy distillery has operated since 1897 and produces Transnistria’s most famous export. A tasting tour costs very little by European standards. The shop sells aged brandy at prices that would be impossible anywhere in the EU.

The main boulevard of Tiraspol is lined with Soviet apartment blocks, hammer-and-sickle motifs, and bilingual Russian-Moldovan signage. Walking the full length is free and delivers the core Transnistria experience: a functioning society under symbols most of Europe dismantled decades ago.
The seat of Transnistria's unrecognized government features a Lenin statue on its steps and Soviet-era architecture frozen in time. Free to view from outside, the building and surrounding square feel like walking into a 1980s Soviet city.
