The oldest and most iconic of San Marino’s three towers perches on the edge of Mount Titano with views stretching to the Adriatic. A small entry fee gets you inside, but the free walk along the ridge path connecting all three towers is the real highlight.

The second tower sits on the highest point of Mount Titano and houses a museum of medieval weapons. The ridgeline walk from Guaita to Cesta is free and one of the most dramatic short hikes in Italy, even though technically you have left Italy behind.
The main square of the world's oldest republic features the Palazzo Pubblico and a changing of the guard in summer. The square is free, compact, and offers views from its terrace that explain why this microstate chose a mountaintop.
