Chapel of Bones Evora

The Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones) is a small chapel inside the Church of St Francis, with walls and columns lined with the bones and skulls of approximately 5,000 monks. Entry is a modest fee. The inscription above the door reads: “We bones that are here, for yours we wait.” Budget travelers pay the small ticket for one of the most macabre and memorable experiences in Portugal.
