The Castello di Miramare is a 19th-century castle on a cliff above the Adriatic, built for Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg. The park and grounds are free. The castle interior is paid. Budget travelers take the cheap bus from the center, walk the free gardens, and decide whether the interior justifies the ticket.
