The Danube Night Walk is a self-guided evening walk along the Pest embankment when Budapest’s landmarks are illuminated. Free. Start at the Chain Bridge (lit in white), walk north along the promenade past the Shoes on the Danube memorial, and end at the Parliament Building (lit in gold). The reflections on the river double every light. Budget travelers do this on their first evening in Budapest and understand immediately why the city is called the Paris of the East.
