Vigo is a Galician port city with some of the freshest and cheapest seafood in Spain, a lively old town, and ferries to the stunning Cies Islands. The Casco Vello (old town) is free to wander, and the waterfront and fishing harbour cost nothing to stroll, with cheap plates of seafood the everyday way to eat well here. The Cies Islands are a budget-friendly day trip by ferry in the warmer months, when the boats run. A Coruna and Santiago de Compostela complete the Galician triangle, all reachable by train.

Castro Fortress
