City in Italy

Siena

2 things to see

Siena’s shell-shaped Piazza del Campo is one of the world’s greatest public spaces, free to sit in and soak up the medieval atmosphere. The compact old town is entirely walkable, and wandering its lanes, admiring the striped cathedral facade, and people-watching on the Campo all cost nothing. The city is less crowded than Florence and offers better prices for a similar Tuscan experience, with spring and autumn the calmest times to visit.
