Gorizia Castle
An 11th-century hilltop castle rebuilt after World War I, with views across the Isonzo valley to Slovenia. The grounds and outer areas are free to explore and the walk up through Borgo Castello is part of the experience.
Piazza Transalpina
A unique square straddling the Italian-Slovenian border, once divided by a wall and now freely walkable across both countries. A mosaic line in the pavement marks where the Iron Curtain stood until 2004.
