The Dali Theatre-Museum, the surrealist master’s own creation and final resting place, is one of Spain’s most visited museums and the reason most travellers come to this Catalan town near the French border. The museum charges admission, but the old town, the Rambla, and the streets around it are free to wander on a short visit. Figueres works as a budget day trip from Girona or Barcelona on the regional train, or a cheap overnight stop when crossing into France.

Dali Theatre-Museum
The largest surrealist object in the world, designed by Dali himself as both museum and artwork, built on the ruins of the old municipal theatre. The entry fee is moderate but every room is a Dali installation.
La Rambla de Figueres
A tree-lined boulevard running through the centre of town, flanked by cafes, toy museums, and a daily market atmosphere. Free to stroll and the most affordable terrace drinks are found here.
