Eindhoven is a design and tech city whose budget airline connections make it a cheap entry point to the Netherlands and a hub of modern Dutch creativity. The Strijp-S district, the repurposed Philips factory quarter, is free to wander for its street art and industrial-chic architecture, and direct trains reach Amsterdam in about an hour and a half. Flying in here rather than into the capital often shaves a real chunk off the trip.
