Called the “Armenian Switzerland” for its forested national park and alpine setting, Dilijan combines medieval monasteries like Haghartsin with a revitalized craft center on its restored old quarter street. The national park trailheads and the monastery grounds are free to walk, and the town’s compact scale keeps everything within easy reach on foot. Armenia’s already low prices drop further outside Yerevan, which is a cheap marshrutka ride away.
